Another Colourful Carnival for 500,000 Party-Goers!
The 2012 Notting Hill Carnival is now behind us and although a few things threatened to dampen the spirits of the approximate 500,000 in attendance, the festivities ended with the majority on a high. Europe’s biggest street party kicked off on August 26th and the party ended late on the 27th, with some people celebrating Notting Hill Carnival for over the fiftieth time! The fantastic turn out of around half a million people is an epic development from the mere hundreds who partied hard at the first Carnival of 1968.
Notting Hill Carnival is widely acknowledged as a chance for people from absolutely everywhere to come together and enjoy good food and great music. The Carnival is truly a chance to witness the diversity of London and demonstrates the need for the many translation agencies in the Capital! You’ll hear many beautiful languages spoken throughout the day and can also see for yourself the flags on the floats of the various influential countries.
An occasional dash of rain and a small amount of seemingly inevitable violence were the only things threatening to keep smiles off the faces of the masses as they danced in the rain and drank through the day. Bashment Party Crew gave the best piece of advice to party-goers, suggesting people drink neat rum instead of beer to avoid spending the whole day searching for a toilet! There was a fantastic turnout of 38 sound systems at Notting Hill Carnival this year, all providing an immense party for everyone who gathered around each of them. The floats were also not to be missed with their vibrant colours, powerful messages and enthusiastic following of street dancers.
Notting Hill Carnival 2012 has only passed a day ago and as revellers recover from their self inflicted headaches and hangovers, everyone is looking forward in excited anticipation of next year’s festivities!

Oh, I would have to have the beer otherwise the party looks like a blast!
Ha yeah I think I would have to join you, did you make it to Carnival this year?
I wish I could have made it, was clubbing in Nottingham. The only thing worse than the dubstep at the club was my dancing.
Haha glad to hear you had a good weekend, CheezyArmpit, hope you enjoyed Nottingham!
