The city of Homs, which was previously known as Emesa, is located in the west of Syria, approximately 162 kilometres to the north of Damascus. Homs is currently an undesirable location to visit due to the violence and conflict in Syria. however, you can check out our photos of the beautiful area before the troubles of recent times began!
Palmyra is an absolutely ancient city in central Syria. Located approximately 215km to the north-east of Damascus, it was a popular stopping point for those crossing the desert as it is located in an oasis. However since as far back as the 16th century it has nearly completely abandoned and disused, there is however a newer town close to the ruins of Palmyra.
